Enameling: Sgraffito and Stencils

Draw into wet enamel and see what comes out of the kiln.

Sgraffito means scratching a design through one layer of enamel to show the color underneath. Stencils give you crisp shapes. Put them together with opaque and transparent enamels and you get surfaces that look nothing like flat color.

What you'll learn

  • Sgraffito for detailed surface designs
  • Building patterns with stencils
  • Sawing and filing, so the metal underneath is worth enameling
  • How opaque and transparent enamels behave differently
  • Finishing and polishing to wear or give away

Do I need experience? No. All skill levels welcome, and beginners do fine here.

What it costs Enameling supplies and materials are included.

Good to know Two students minimum for the class to run. Grab a friend and save both your spots.
