, a centuries-old technique originating in the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). In this immersive workshop, you’ll learn how to transform
thin silver wire “cells” filled with
vibrant enamel colors into stunning jewelry pieces.
Workshop Highlights
Cloisonné Basics:
Understand the fundamentals of this ancient art form.
Wet Pack Enameling:
Apply and fire enamel on a domed silver blank.
Wire Placement:
Bend and shape silver wires to form intricate designs.
Layering Vibrant Colors:
Fill cells with vibrant enamel and achieve a smooth, polished finish.
Firing Techniques:
Master proper firing methods.
Finishing methods:
Finishing cloisonné pieces is a meticulous process that ensures the enamel is smooth, level with the wires, and polished to the desired finish.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created a stunning cloisonné enamel piece and acquired the skills to continue this craft independently.
Schedule
This three-day class runs Thursday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM daily (our booking system only reflects the start day):
• Day 1:
Introduction to wet pack enameling and preparing your silver blank.
• Day 2:
Designing and placing silver wires for your unique pattern.
• Day 3:
Filling cells with enamel, firing, and finishing your masterpiece.
Materials & Fees
A $45 materials fee (payable at the end of class) includes:
• Fine Silver for your blank
• Fine Silver wires
• High-quality lead-free enamels
• Access to all necessary tools and equipment
