Half-Day Metalsmithing

You can solder. Now let's make it interesting.

This is the class for people who've got the basics down and want their work to look less basic. In one session you'll add layers, texture, and detail to a ring, pendant, or cuff, and set a stone or two while you're at it.

What you'll learn

  • Planning a design with several parts and getting it to work
  • Making and soldering decorative elements
  • Twisted wire borders
  • Stamping for texture
  • Pick soldering, for when you need real control
  • Bezel setting, patina, and polish

Do I need experience? Yes, some. You should be comfortable with a torch and basic soldering. If you're not there yet, take the Intro to Metalsmithing or Full Day class first.

What it costs Materials are added up at the end, usually $20 to $100 depending on what you make.

What you take home A piece with real detail on it, the kind people ask about.
