Layered Saddle Ring

A statement ring that puts four techniques in one piece.

Five hours, one ring, and a genuine step up in difficulty. Saddle rings curve, which means every layer has to land right and your stone has to sit on a surface that isn't flat. That last part is one of the harder things in jewelry, and you'll do it.

What you'll learn

  • Precision soldering, so layers join cleanly instead of nearly
  • Rolling mill textures you design yourself
  • Detailed sawing for the cut-out work
  • Setting a stone on a curved surface
  • Patina and polish that make the whole thing look finished

Everyone's design comes out different, which is the point.

Do I need experience? Yes. This is for people who've taken several metalsmithing classes and are comfortable soldering and working with the metal. If that's you and you've been looking for a challenge, this is it.

What it costs Tools and equipment are included. Metal is added at the end, $40 to $100 depending on your design and ring size. We have stones on hand to match whatever you build.

What you take home A ring people will assume you bought somewhere expensive.
