Ready to Cast Jewelry Making Class

Prerequisites:

  • You must have completed a casting class prior to taking this, and have your wax models carved, finished, and ready to cast before coming to class. If you have not taken the casting class, click here to take that class first.
  • Previous experience with spruing your models is required.

Are you ready to see your wax carvings come to life? In our studio, you'll have all the materials and equipment available to sprue and cast your waxes using professional equipment, plus time to troubleshoot your projects with guidance from an experienced instructor.

Skills:

  • Spruing techniques
  • Safe use of casting equipment
  • Filing, cleaning, and polishing your cast metal pieces

Day-by-Day:

  • Day 1: Final touches on wax models, then weigh, sprue, and invest. Flasks go into the kiln to burn out overnight.
  • Day 2: Cast, then spend the remaining time filing, cleaning up, and polishing your metal pieces.

Class Kit Cost:

  • Bring your pre-carved wax models, ready to sprue. There is a limit of one to two flasks per student — $10 per flask charged at the end of class.
  • Casting grain is NOT included in tuition. Students may bring sterling silver scrap with NO SOLDER, or purchase sterling silver or bronze casting grain on the day of class.

Additional Details:

  • There are no demonstrations or instructions — your pieces should be ready to go!
  • Ready to Cast is designed for wax carvings only. If you have 3D printed pieces or organic material you'd like to cast (succulents, flowers, twigs), please clear it with staff ahead of time.

This is your chance to see your hard work pay off and create beautiful, lasting jewelry pieces!
