Virtual Metalsmithing Fundamentals

Four weeks, four sessions of four hours, three finished pieces.

A proper course rather than a one-off class, run live over Zoom from wherever your bench is. By the end you'll have covered fabrication, soldering, texturing, piercing, forming, polishing, and chain making, and made three things worth wearing.

What you'll make

• A layered multi-metal ring with hammer texture. Combining metals, sweat soldering, texturing, and patina.
• A pierced cuff with granules. Piercing, making granules, and more sweat soldering.
• A chain bracelet with an S-hook clasp. Chain making, pick soldering, and fabricating your own clasp.

How it runs Each session is a four-hour live workshop built around demonstrations. Your Zoom link comes with registration.

Materials A detailed supply list is emailed to you before the first session.

Do I need experience? None. Beginners are welcome, and it's equally useful if you're self-taught and want to fill in gaps.

Pairs well with the polishing class, if you want your finishes to match your fabrication.
